Comment: This was an excellent initial training course for coronary CT. "Captain" the instructor is extremely proficient and able to guide everyone through the process of navigating the software. The cases were broad encompassing CAD as well as congenital heart disease. There was exposure to PVD although for those planning to narrow reading to coronary CT only these were more of an exhibition. Highly recommend this course.

04/25/2010
Comment: This is an excellent course, well-organized and comprehensive, with every case reviewed by an expert. I liked the format of lectures intermixed with reading and review, for the change of pace. I've been to other courses where all the didactics were done first, and then all the reading, and the format for this course helps to illustrate the didactic points with intermittent reading, as well as breaking up the monotony of lectures. Another strong point of the course is that every case is reviewed, while other courses that I have attended have relied on a significant volume of self-study to make the required number of cases.
04/25/2010

11/09/2008
Comment: Excellent course. Had the opportunity to review a wide range of cases, did well over 150 cases with varying complexity. This course really made my concepts clear and can better manipulate the images. Many of the limitations which I had have significantly gotten better. The physics of CT was made ridiculously simple and gave an excellent understanding of the basic concepts, thanks to LANCE. Dr.Mahdi is a very experienced cardiologist who makes CTA very encouraging and understandable, a great sense of humor had made it even more enjoyable. I recommend this course without hesitations or limitations to any physician who is interested in the field of CTA.

Comment: I have done intensive training in MDCT angiography over the past 3 yrs. I have attended courses in Milwaukee, Baltimore, done on-line training with ACC, SANC. I am boarded in Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography. With these background comments about my exposures and experiences, I would rate the three intensive training sessions I have spent with the Institute for Cardiovascular CT Certification to be the best and most intensive introduction to any new imagining techology course of any type I have ever taken. I would recommend the course without equivocation or reservation to any member of the SSCT or any Cardiologist or Radiologist at any level of training or experience. The sessions are both academically rigorous as well as pragmatic. The exposure to CT workstation operation is intensive and allows the participant to develop an automatic familiarity with the workstation system. The array of cases is exceptional and is devloped in a logical and consistent manner, building from rudimentary to advanced cases.
10/26/2008

Comment: A great learning environment with excellent structure. Dr. Al-Bassam demonstrates great command of cross-sectional and vascular anatomy. The hands-on independent work stations allow the participant to follow along with the direct supervisor and aide from multiple course instructors as Dr. Al-Bassam directs the case study. A variety of cases (Cardiac, Neuro-Vascular, Peripheral Vascular, and Abdominal vascular case mixes allows for a thorough understanding of 3D and axial command of the TeraRecon 3D program utilized during the course. Dr. Al-Bassam provides professionalism, a good sense of humor, and timing to keep the course lively and moving throughout the day. The course structure provides learning, professional dialogue, humor, and enough breaks to make this the number one CTA Coronary Course in the USA.
08/18/2007

08/06/2007
Comment: This had to be the best learning experience of my entire medical career, it reignited my passion for medicine, through Dr. Al-Bassam's tireless teaching and contagious enthusiasm. The methodological approaches repeated during the seemingless countless CTA cases gave me confidence that I will be able to interpret any CTA accurately from this point on. This course is very intense and well-organized, allowing maximal return in one's time invested (away from work and family). I highly recommend this course and believe this to be the best course in the country.

Comment: An exceptional course! Dr. Al-bassam is a very knowledgeable and gifted teacher who manages to make this complex new imaging modality as easy as reading echos by the end of the course. Having your own workstation, exposure to a great variety of cases, extra help in getting familiarized with the mouse and other controls (which is half the battle), hilarious mini-videos to keep us awake...all contributed to a great learning experience. I have been to other CTA courses and this is by far the best! Well worth your money and time.

Comment: Excellently conducted training course in conjunction with training on the Terrarecon thin client server. Small group with excellent interaction between trainer and students.

Comment: The best course I attended in more than 20 years. Outstanding. A lot of interaction with Dr. Al-Bassam, in fact he stayed for longer hours with us (highly committed). Wide variety of cases. The highest recommendation.

Comment: This is a wonderful course. Dr. Al-Bassam is an excellent teacher. He makes sure everyone participates in the case reviews and spends time reviewing cases with each participant. Each participant has their own workstation which allows for hands-on experience and the opportunity to really learn the software. There is a great review of physics, anatomy and the state of technology today that allows the ability to review these very large image files rapidly without having to wait to download them. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning cardiac as well as peripheral CTA.

Comment: This course provides an excellent mix of introductory basic science with practical case reviews. Participants each have a work station, and are allowed ample time for individual instruction and questions. A wide variety of cases are reviewed. The course is informal yet thorough, and the meeting facility is adequate. Excellent meal breaks. Overall a very good experience.

Comment: I have previously attended other "hands-on training" courses for CTA. Although instructive, I always found myself paired to another one or two attendees sharing a workstation, and often one of physicians ends up monopolizing the station. In this course, on the other hand, I had my own workstation, which allowed me to do all the image manipulation myself. This is virtually unique. Dr. Al-Bassam is a gifted teacher. The variety of cases was outstanding. Not only did we review coronary cases, but also peripheral vascular cases as well as cerebrovascular cases. Several congenital anomalies or variants were reviewed as well. This is by far the best hands-on training program that I have ever attended. If you want an intense, but enjoyable learning experience in CTA with lots of pathology and individual attention, rather that a course looking at many normals and where you have to fight to get a chance to use the workstation, this is the course for you. Highly recommended!

Comment: This is the best course that is currently available in the United States bar none. Each physician has his own work station and can easily follow the instructors moves; in addition there are helpful assistants that are available to help you get to know the software program and the various buttons and knobs. There no short-comings and is as complete as the most discriminating individual can imagine. I recommend this course without reservation and without hesitation. As a result of this course, I am now a level III and have already been invited to participate in another course for CT Tech's; and anticipate to be invited as faculty in other courses.

Comment: There are many aspects to running a good CTA course. These elements include basic physics, didactics on CTA, hands-on graphic manipulation and most importantly a balanced exposure to cardiac and other vascular systems evaluation. In every detail, Dr. Mahdi Al-bassam has excelled in teaching the course for all attendees at all levels of experience and training. I would strongly recommend his course to any physician interested in acquiring solid expertise in CTA. I would rate this course as excellent.

Comment: My name is Jianwei Feng, MD, Phd, private cardiologist in Houston. I want to sincerely thank the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography which provide access to such valuable CTA courses. I started my first CTA course at California, that was a good course. However, Dr. Al-bassam, who is the director for this course, gave much better, extensive, and more comprehensive training, not only in the area of CTA of the heart, but also excellent learning course for peripheral disease including CAT of the brain, carotid, aorta, and renal. Low extremity run-off. too. I feel so much comfortable to read any CTA of the body after Dr. Al-bassam's course. Now I feel like I am a real cardiologist because CTA helps me so much for my patients with cardiovascular disease. I recommend this course without any reservation.
